OBSERVATIONS
MYSELF: On the first day, we had our orientation about the rules and regulations at Pedia Ward and the things we should remember when we are finally exposed to it. We also had our review on carrying doctor's order, drug computations, and how to discharge a patient. It was really a sleepy day for all of us. we had given a chance to take just a moment of nap to refresh ourselves and set-up our minds. During our second day, it was a shocking experience to be at Pedia Ward. Honestly, I was able to say "OMG" because asside from doing the nursing routine, we have to accomplish a case abstract comprising patient's profile, patient history of illness, P.E., and the Gordon's 11 Functional Patterns. Another burden was, we have to do charting. I believed that our C.I. gave these tasks simultaneously just to evaluate our patience , level of capacity and our dedication to nursing. All of these are part of the test that we need to surpass and we should stand as one of the survivors. On our last day, there was a big change compared yesterday, we worked very smoothly. I think the prophylaxis of yesterday is now working at this moment.
GROUPMATES: Some of them were toxic but some were working confidently. they are doing their work respectively. Because of not addressing to Mr. or Ms. when we call each other, most of the time we gathered punishment through demerits. they have sense of humor and easy to be with.
CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR: She is so smart. She guides us from what we are going to do and instruct the ideal and proper way of giving nursing actions so that we became a competent health care provider. She scolded us sometimes when we commit mistakes because of our naughtiness. She wants us to gain our discipline, give respect for each other and the rigth conduct to act as a nurse.
LEARNING
- Before you end up everything, you must assure that all things should accomplish accordingly, properly and completely.
- I learned the proper way on how to discharge a patient since it was my first time to do it.
- I have incorporated Choramphenicol to a 10 cc. of sterile water in order that irritation will be alleviated.
- I have done some referral to the doctor.
- I did carry the doctor's order properly.
- I learned that in a prescription card, maximum of 3 drugs should be listed and should not to exceed on that.
- I have updated the Kardex of my patient.
- I learned that some of the patient are so sensitive and hard to get their cooperation but it is our responsibility to gain their trust in whatever way we must prefer.
